A month ago or so, it was announced that Doctor Who, one of my all time favorite TV series was coming back. The show started on November 23, 1963 and ran till December 6, 1989. There was one attempt to revive it in 1996 and that failed, and there’s been a few BBCi dramas online in the last couple of years. However, the news that a Doctor Who fan has been waiting for came recently with the announcement of a new TV production of Doctor Who in England. After 14 years, we get the news around the 40th anniversary of the show that it returns.

Anyway, today marked the launch of a new webcast on the BBCi website entitled “Scream of the Shalka. It’s got a new 9th Doctor, and the first episode launched today, with the remaining 5 episodes launching the next 5 Thursdays. So far it’s hard to tell what they’re doing with this characterization of the Doctor, and no explanation for a regeneration has been given, so it will be interseting to see that when the show gets back on the air in England in 2005 if that TV doctor will be the 10th or the 9th Doctor.
Anyway, that makes the lineup of Doctors thus:

1) William Hartnell 1963-1966
2) Patrick Troughton 1966-1969
3) Jon Pertwee 1970-1974
4) Tom Baker 1974-1981
5) Peter Davison 1981-1984
6) Colin Baker 1984-1986
7) Sylvester McCoy 1987-1989
8) Paul McGann 1996
9) Richard E. Grant 2003-??

My wife will probably roll her eyes when she sees this entry, but I’m putting it here on the hopes that someone searching the net for Doctor Who might run into this and check out the new webcast. Also, if you’re a Doctor Who fan the two sites you really should check out for Doctor Who news and info are:
