Planet of the Ood

This Story: Series 4, Story 3. Production Code 4.1
Overall: Story 192, Episode 747
Airdate: 19 Apr 2008
Written by Keith Temple
Directed by Graeme Harper

Notes

  • Actor Roger Griffiths appears here as Commander Kess.  I know him well from the 90’s BBC sitcom “Chef!” where he played Everton Stonehead.
  • Actor Tim McInnerny appears here as Klineman Halpen.  He’s well known from his appearances in Black Adder (Hi Capt Darling!)
  • There is a reference to the 1964 serial “The Sensorites” here when the Doctor refers to the “Sensesphere”.

Fun story that gets into the background of the Ood. We're also shown how their nature gets them exploited for profit by a company led by Capt Darling from Black Adder. 🤣 There's a pic.twitter.com/itA9CFChyq

great reference back to the 1964 serial The Sensorites here. The final bit where the Ood get revenge on Halpen was fairly gross for #DoctorWho. Liked the "look" of this story. #foreshadowing pic.twitter.com/FPTucsZmCC

Roger Griffiths (Chef’s Everton) as Kess.
