Polymorph

This Story: Season 3, Episode 3
Overall: Story 15, Episode 15
Airdate: 28 Nov 1989
Written by Rob Grant & Doug Naylor
Directed by Ed Bye

Notes

  • There is a remastered version of this episode, but I will be using the original version.
  • This episode carries a warning before the titles, saying certain scenes aren’t good for younger children, ending with “you have been warned”.  I remember on first viewing thing, “Wow, what’s this going to be?”
  • The remastered version of the episode does away with the pre-titles warning.
  • The actress who played “Jenny” (the genetic mutant) was Frances Barber.  She was in Doctor Who as “The Eyepatch lady” in a handful of Matt Smith episodes (Wedding of River Song was one).
  • There was a sequel to this story a few seasons later titled “Emohawk: Polymorph II“, but it wasn’t nearly as a good as this one.

#RedDwarfMarathon Ep 15 - Polymorph - 28 Nov 1989 2/2 shorts is laugh out loud funny. The ep also manages to use the word clitoris - and in a way you wouldn't think. Watching the crew interact with each other not as themselves is awesome. Great physical comedy here.
