The Gamesters of Triskelion

This Story: Season 2 Episode 16 (production code 2.17)
TOS Overall: Story 45, Episode 46
Trek Overall: Story 45, Episode 46
Airdate: 5 Jan 1968
Written by Margaret Armen
Directed by Gene Nelson

Notes

  • This episode has been parodied in pop culture a lot, especially in the Simpsons and Futurama.  Especially the “fight music”.
  • The ruins that Kirk & Shauna visit are recycled sets from “The Man Trap“.
  • The background from the scene with the providers is the same one from the background to “Devil in the Dark” – I didn’t even have to look that one up, was very obvious. :)

Kirk, Chekov, & Uhura are kidnapped and taken to a planet where they're forced to fight for "providers" who make bets on everything. This episode is known more to Trek fans for its influence in pop pic.twitter.com/zRupxNrtQ9

culture as it's appeared in the Simpsons & Futurama. The silver outfit on Shawna doesn't seem too practical in 2024. :) This entire episode just feels cornball - like it belongs in Season 3. pic.twitter.com/FPaJGRUvI9
