Notes

  • Another of the 6,524 episodes of Star Trek filmed at Vazquez Rocks.
  • Wesley Crusher does not appear in this episode.
  • The episode title is a translation of the Latin phrase “Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
  • Dr. Pulaski is mentioned in this episode in passing in reference to a medical procedure she performed in the episode “Pen Pals“.  This is the last time the character is ever referenced on screen – by name.
  • James Greene who plays a Federation officer here later appeared in a few other Trek episodes.  Specifically “The Reckoning” (Deep Space Nine) and “11:59” (Voyager).
  • At the end off this episode, the Mintakans give Picard a tapestry that can be seen in Picard’s quarters multiple times between now and the end of the series.
  • The events of this episode are later referenced in the episode  “Allegiance“.
