Final Mission

This Story: Season 4 Episode 9 (production code 183)
TNG Overall: Episode 83
Trek Overall: Story 182, Episode 185
Airdate: 19 Nov 1990
Written by Kasey Arnold-Ince & Jeri Taylor
Directed by Corey Allen

Notes

  • The final episode for Will Wheaton & Wesley Crusher as a regular member of the cast. Wil left the show at this point.  He does return in four more episodes before the series ends as well as making a brief appearance in the final TNG movie, “Star Trek: Nemesis”.
  • Wesley returns in a few other series as well.  He’s in the last episode of Season 2 of Star Trek: Picard as well as the episode “Old Friends, New Planets” of Star Trek: Lower Decks.  He’s also in multiple episode of Season 2 of Star Trek: Prodigy.
  • Events in the episode Samaritan Snare referenced here.
  • Phasers used by Dirgo in this episode were props used in “Star Trek III: The Search for Spock“.
  • The character of Boothby in Starfeet Academy is first mentioned here, although he’s not seen until the episode “The First Duty” (also a Wesley episode).
  • I think this is the only time we see Wes fire a phaser.
