Cardassians

This Story: Season 2 Episode 5 (production code 425)
DS9 Overall: Episode 25
Trek Overall: Story 291, Episode 305
Airdate: 25 Oct 1993
Story by Gene Wolande & John Wright
Teleplay by James Crocker
Directed by Cliff Bole

Notes

  • Jake Sisko does not appear again.
  • In a scene where Dukat & Sisko are talking about the orphaned children, there’s a star chart in the background that was clearly shown in Remmick’s office in TNG’s “Conspiracy“.
  • There is a novel (called “The Never Ending Sacrifice“) which details Rugal’s life after this episode.  It is of course non canonical, but makes for a good followup to this episode.
  • The first time Gul Dukat visited Deep Space Nine since the pilot (although he appeared on screens a couple of times).
  • The second appearance of Garak in the series.
  • The first time the Cardassian name for DS9 was ever used – Terek Nor.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 25 - Cardassians - 25 Oct 1993 1/2 The first ep that deals with the past between Dukat & Garak. A story based around culture and racial hate instilled in children. Heavy story if you really look into it. It's about a kid left behind by the Cardassians

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 25 - Cardassians - 25 Oct 1993 2/2 raised by Bajorans who hates Cardassians. Has some intersting takes that could be applied to our real life today - the hallmark of a good "Star Trek" episode. Garak is awesome as he always is. #PlainSimpleGarak
