- The first time we see a female Ferengi.
- The first mention of the Dominion, who would become a major player in the latter seasons of the show.
- The first of a loose trilogy of Ferengi stories focusing on Ferengi familial structure. The others being “Family Business” and “Profit and Lace“.
- This episode was originally intended to be a TNG episode called “Profit Margin”.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 27 - The Rules of Acquisition - 1 Nov 1993 2/2 deals with Ferengi familiar structure, and how they treat women. Ferengi heavy eps can be hit or miss. This is kind of in the middle - don't hate it, just kind of "there". Zek is kind of a jerk to Quark.
