Whispers

This Story: Season 2 Episode 14 (production code 434)
DS9 Overall: Episode 34
Trek Overall: Story 300, Episode 314
Airdate: 7 Feb 1994
Written by Paul Robert Coyle
Directed by Les Landau

Notes

  • The alternate Miles was called a replicant vs an android as they didn’t want to make him sound like Data. It was also a reference to the movie Blade Runner.
  • The second and final appearance of Admiral Rollman – the other episode was “Past Prologue“.
  • The Federation/Cardassian demilitarization zone is mentioned for the first time – as setup for then unaired TNG episodes and of course the core concept of Star Trek Voyager’s pilot.
  • Events from the episode “Rivals” are mentioned here.
  • Rule of Acquisition Mentioned: #194 – It’s always good to know about new customers before they walk in your door.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 34 - Whispers - 7 Feb 1994 1/2 Two O'Brien heavy eps in a row here. This one is a simple concept. Miles has been replaced with a duplicate (here called a replicant). We have to watch Miles react to everyone acting weird around him. Big episode for Colm

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 34 - Armageddon Game - 7 Feb 1994 2/2 Meaney who is in every scene. Literally there isn't one without him. You eventually figure out the crew knows he's not the real one. The drama here is WE as an audience (and he) don't really know what's going on.
