- This story was written by Pam Pietroforte. She was an intern on the series.
- This episode is directed by Anson Williams. Williams is probably most famous for playing Potsie Weber on the TV series Happy Days. He would direct one other episode of DS9 as well as four episodes of Voyager.
- Damar becomes leader of the Cardassion Union in this episode with the disappearance of Dukat (to them).
- One of the few episodes where we hear the actual Vorta language being spoken.
- The music in the party scene is “The Blue Danube”. It was later used on the Voyager episode “Renaissance Man”.
- The group of characters in this episode appear again in “Chrysalis“.
- The events of this episode are recalled again in “Inquisition” & “Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges“.
