Waltz

This Story: Season 6 Episode 11 (production code 535)
DS9 Overall: Episode 135
Trek Overall: Story 393, Episode 416
Airdate: 5 Jan 1998
Writer: Ronald D. Moore
Director: René Auberjonois

Notes

  • The seventh of eight episodes directed by René Auberjonis.
  • Follows up of the events of the episode “Sacrifice of Angels” and what happened to Dukat.
  • This episode is the last time that Sisko & Dukat see each other face to face until the series finale.
  • The brig set for Star Trek Voyager is used in this episode (albeit redressed).
  • The first appearance of the Type 6 shuttle in DS9.
  • Events shown in the episode “Wrongs Darker Than Death or Night” are referenced here – said events themselves were a flashback, so this was a double flashback?  :)
  • This episode in several ways reminds me of the Red Dwarf episode “Marooned“.

#StarTrekMarathon Deep Space Nine Ep 135 - Waltz - 5 Jan 1998 1/2 Top shelf DS9. When I started, this was one I was looking for. A few eps back I made some positive comments about Mark Alaimo. This just drives that home. We deal with Dukat's frame of mind after losing his empire and & his daughter.

#StarTrekMarathon Deep Space Nine Ep 135 - Waltz - 5 Jan 1998 2/2 He & Sisko are trapped on a planet after their shuttle crashes. The vast bulk of the ep is the two of them talking to each other. Dukat facing his own reality is awesome stuff, delivered by Alaimo. Almost wish this was 2x as long. :)
