Covenant

This Story: Season 7 Episode 9 (production code 559)
DS9 Overall: Episode 159
Trek Overall: Story 416, Episode 440
Airdate: 23 Nov 1998
Writer: René Ecchevaria
Director: John Kretchmer

Notes

  • The events of the episode “Tears of the Prophets” are recalled here – this is a loose sequel to the Dukat portion of that story.  Events of numerous other episodes mentioned too, but Tears felt the most relevant.
  • This episode is based off the 1997 “Heaven’s Gate” cult which believed that the followers’ bodies would be transported to a space ship traveling behind a comet. In real life, one of the followers was Nichelle Nichols’ brother.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 159 - Covenant - 23 Nov 1998 2/2 didn't quite mirror real life, though. This ep tended to not get a ton of love, but I never understood that - I always adored it. As usual, a great performance by Marc Alaimo. This sets up where Dukat goes in finale.
