Extreme Measures

This Story: Season 7 Episode 23 (production code 573)
DS9 Overall: Episode 173
Trek Overall: Story 430, Episode 453
Airdate: 17 May 1999
Writer: Bradley Thompson & David Weddle
Director: Steve Posey

Notes

  • The seventh of a ten episode arc that closes out the Dominion War and Deep Space Nine as a series. As far as I know it’s not intended to be a single story with ten parts to it, but it is very tightly wound together (ala Babylon 5), so watching these out of order would be near impossible.  On original broadcast, they were advertised as “The Final Chapter“.
  • The working title of this episode was “Night Tremors”.
  • The final appearance of William Sadler as Luther Sloan.
  • The only episode of the war arc/finale that does not have Damar in it.
  • Kira references events from the episode “Life Support” (death of Bareil).
  • It is said that the President of the Federation (as seen in “Homefront” & “Paradise Lost“) had finished his term.
  • The medical bed Odo was in was a prop used in two Voyager episodes – “One” and “Resolutions“.
