The Changing Face of Evil

This Story: Season 7 Episode 20 (production code 570)
DS9 Overall: Episode 170
Trek Overall: Story 427, Episode 451
Airdate: 26 Apr 1999
Writer: Ira Steven Behr & Hans Beimler
Director: Mike Vejar

Notes

  • The fourth of a ten episode arc that closes out the Dominion War and Deep Space Nine as a series. As far as I know it’s not intended to be a single story with ten parts to it, but it is very tightly wound together (ala Babylon 5), so watching these out of order would be near impossible.  On original broadcast, they were advertised as “The Final Chapter“.  These first four were written at the same time and are a cohesive block hence the way this one ends.
  • The big battle the Federation lost here likely included the AR-558 outpost – no specific details are given as to its fate.
  • The USS Defiant was destroyed in this episode. It was an intentional statement tho show the strength of the Breen.
  • The final episode of the series with new music composed by Jay Chattaway.
  • The real identity of Gul Dukat is revealed to Winn in this episode.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 170 - The Changing Face of Evil - 26 Apr 1999 1/2 One of the best action eps of the series. First off, the Breen attack Earth and wreck Starfleet HQ. Damar moves into open rebellion against the Dominion, which is probably my fav part of all this stuff.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 170 - The Changing Face of Evil - 26 Apr 1999 2/2 This is a good split point of the war story, we get a huge battle which results in the destruction of the Defiant, Winn finds out who Dukat really is, and well, shit starts hitting the fan. Superb ep!!
