Pressure Point

This Story: Season 2 Episode 5 (production code 206)
B7 Overall: Episode 18
Airdate: 6 Feb 1979 (8:10PM UK time)
Duration: 49:25
Filming Dates: 21-23 Aug, 30 Sep, 10-11 Oct, 29 Nov 1978
Written by Terry Nation
Directed by George Spenton-Foster

Notes

  • The last episode for David Jackson’s Oleg Gan, as the character is killed off in this episode.  While mentioned a few times after this, he’s never seen again.  He’s by far not the last primary cast member to die on this show.
  • They had considered killing Cally vs Gan, but decided if they killed Cally it would leave just Jenna as the only female cast member.
  • Orac does not appear in this episode.
  • Oddly given there are 34 more episodes in the series total, and 10 with Roj Blake, it is the last time that Blake & Servalan meet face to face. To that, it’s the first time that Servalan & Jenna meet face to face.
  • For some unknown reason, the star field in the closing credits is different.
  • The first time Blake has been back to Earth since the series pilot, “The Way Back“.

#B7Marathon #Blakes7 Blake's 7 Ep 18 - "Pressure Point" - 6 Feb 1979 1/3 OUTSANDING ep! First, it shows Travis not being a moron - and using Blake's personality against him, leading him into a trap. Travis actually would have won this if Servalan didn't let them go at the last min. It also shows

#B7Marathon #Blakes7 Blake's 7 Ep 18 - "Pressure Point" - 6 Feb 1979 2/3 Travis being a bastard and whacking a kid to her to be quiet. Blake's quest to destroy Star One starts here, and that's what Travis uses against him - his zealot desire to destroy the Federation. Plus of course, the show kills

#B7Marathon #Blakes7 Blake's 7 Ep 18 - "Pressure Point" - 6 Feb 1979 3/3 off Gan - for good. No sci-fi return - just dead when Blake's mission fails. I adored the way this was played on screen. Some of Nation's best B7 writing. I wish they had given David Jackson more to do on the show, however.
