Parturition

This Story: Season 2 Episode 7 (production code 123)
VOY Overall: Episode 23
Trek Overall: Story 454, Episode 479
Airdate: 9 Oct 1995
Written by Thomas E. Szollosi (& Michael Piller – uncredited)
Directed by Jonathan Frakes

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 1, although the photons were armed in this episode.
  • The second of three episodes of Voyager directed by Jonathan Frakes, who would also cameo as Riker later in the series.
  • The episode’s title (parturition) is defined as “The act of giving birth (to children)”.
  • Working titles were “Fog” and “Echolocation”.
  • The Jem Hadar soliders in a holodeck were a re-use of footage from the DS9 episode “The Search (Part I)“.
  • A third shuttle from Voyager is destroyed.
  • The term “Planet Hell” is used in the episode, which was a real life “Stage 16” on Paramount Studios, used for TNG & VOY for a numerous amount of planets over the series.
