Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 4
  • A working title for this episode was “Warp 10”.
  • Despite this episode’s atrocious reputation, it was the third most watched episode of the season.
  • The first appearance of the new kind of shuttle for the show – called “Class 2”.
  • The events of this episode are recalled in the Lower Decks episode “We’ll Always have Tom Paris“.
  • Tom Paris as part of his “evolution” is said to have two hearts.  It’s not established whether that’s still the case when he’s reverted back to human form.
  • There is a quick scene showing continued sharing of Voyager info to the Kazon by the presumed traitor Jonas (from the prior episode), but it has no effect of the plot of this one.
  • This episode won an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Makeup for a Series”.
  • This episode was released on the same day as the v1.0 shareware episode of Duke Nukem 3D was.
  • Admin note: I did this episode for my marathon 1 day short of it falling on the actual 30th anniversary of the episode.  :)

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 31 - Threshold - 29 Jan 1996 1/3 It's lizard time! This one is generally regarded as the worst ep of Voyager. I've always felt there was a lot of scenes by Paris that would make Matt Decker proud. Reality is it's not all that bad until they get to the point

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 31 - Threshold - 29 Jan 1996 2/3 where Janeway & Paris are turned into lizards and they mate and have kids. That's SO bad it's insane, but the Warp 10 stuff and the makeup on Paris is quite good. Shame it's ruined by the godawful ending. One thing tho. If The

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 31 - Threshold - 29 Jan 1996 3/3 Doctor could reverse this, why not just use the warp tech to take the ship home, let everyone "evolve", and then have the Doctor fix everyone when they get home? Did love @mikemcmahan.bsky.social brought the lizards back. :)

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 31 - Threshold - 29 Jan 1996 4/3 One amusing note. Tomorrow this episode turns 30 years old, and was released on the same day that Duke Nukem 3D was. The timing of all that is amusing to me personally given my personal history with Apogee and Duke Nukem. :)

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
