Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 23 / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 14 (crew of 140).
  • Gwyneth Walsh plays Nimira here.  She’s more well known for being B’Etor the Klingon in three TNG episodes, one DS9 episode, and Star Trek Generations.
  • The PADD that Nimira uses was previously used by a Romulan in the episode “Unification I“.
  • The Nexus energy ribbon special effect from Star Trek: Generations as re-used here.
  • Several special effects were re-used from the movie “Event Horizons” (a Paramount movie).
  • The plot of this episode is similar to the Voyager episode “Ex Post Facto” as well as “Meld“.
  • Neelix says he doesn’t like telepaths, yet his relationship on the show prior to this series was with Kes, who was one.
  • Events of the episode “Blood Fever” are referenced here (relative to Torres’ violent Klingon nature.
  • Kes gets a small shout out here.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 78 - Random Thoughts - 19 Nov 1997 2/3 tries to control the thoughts of people in their "charge". Oh gee, where does that sound familiar from? This was made 30yrs ago, but Roddenberry would love the allegory for what's going on currently here. Good Tuvok ep.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 78 - Random Thoughts - 19 Nov 1997 3/3 The planet's chief security officer (Nimira) was played by Gwynyth Walsh. She's more known in Trek lore as being one of the two Duras sisters - B'Etor.
