Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 23 / Confirmed crew deaths since pilot: 15 (crew of 146 (my count says 138)).
  • A working title of this episode was “The Omega Effect”.
  • The events of this episode were followed up 28 years later in the two part season finale of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’s first season (in the episodes “300th Night” and “Rubincon“.)
  • It is said that an experiment with a single Omega particle destroyed 29 Borg cubes and 600,000 drones.
  • Torres is only in one scene in this episode, because immediately after filming that, Roxanne Dawson went into labor, and couldn’t film anymore.
  • The only episode (to date) where a recognized Captain is said to officially rescind the Prime Directive.
  • Events and characters from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan are mentioned here.
  • Jeff Austin plays Allos in this episode.  He was also a Bolian security guard in the DS9 episode “The Adversary“.
  • Seven refers to Species 262 & 263 (but does not elaborate on who they are).
  • The Borg referred to Omega as “Particle 010”.
  • Janeway’s DaVinci holodeck program was run here, but not with DaVinci himself, although his character is mentioned.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 89 - The Omega Directive - 15 Apr 1998 3/3 Events here were followed up a few decades later in the 2026 Starfleet Academy episode "300th Night". They had Paul Giamatti's character use Omega-47 as a weapon. A spiritual sequel to this episode. A fun throwback.

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
