Warhead

This Story: Season 5 Episode 25 (production code 219)
VOY Overall: Episode 119
Trek Overall: Story 544, Episode 575
Airdate: 19 May 1999
Story by Brannon Braga
Teleplay by Michael Taylor & Kenneth Biller
Directed by John Kretchmer

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 53.  This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
  • Ensign Jenkins is played by McKenzie Westmore. She is Star Trek royalty.  She is the daughter of TOS makeup artist Michael Westmore and the grand-niece of TOS hair stylist Pat Westmore.  Westmore also appeared as Rose in TNG’s “When the Bough Breaks“, a Ba’ku woman in Star Trek Insurrection, and a character named Rhomsew in Star Trek Picard’s “Maps and Legends” episode.
  • The character Onquanii was played by Steven Dennis.  He was also two different “Night Aliens” in the episode “Night“.  He was Fennim in “Think Tank“, Crewman Thompson in Equinox Part I & Part II, and the Andorran Tholos in the Enterprise episodes “The Andorian Incident” & “Shadows of P’Jem“.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 119 - Warhead - 19 May 1999 1/2 This reminds me of a combination of plot points from the episodes Warlord, Dreadnought, Revulsion, & Prototype. It's not exactly bad (has a good performance by Robert Picardo), but the plot feels rather recycled from the other

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 119 - Warhead - 19 May 1999 2/2 episodes I mentioned. There is some talk about the Doctor exceeding his programming - like Kryten of Red Dwarf. But the draw here is the performance of Picardo. His "yelling" never crosses into comedy. Plot's pedestrian, tho.

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
