Child’s Play

This Story: Season 6 Episode 19 (production code 239)
VOY Overall: Episode 139
Trek Overall: Story 563, Episode 595
Airdate: 8 Mar 2000
Story by Paul Brown
Teleplay by Raf Green
Directed by Mike Vejar

Notes

  • Running fired torpedo count: 62 (one this episode).  This contradicts the hard limit set in “The Cloud” of 38.
  • There is a loose connection between this ep and “The Best of Both Worlds“.  In that ep, the panel Jouret IV appeared, shown to have been attacked by the Borg.  That same planet is shown in astrometrics here, and those same craters from the former ep are shown on the Brunali homeworld, too.
  • Seven tells Icheb that she never saw her father again after he was assimilated, which is incorrect, as her father showed up in “Dark Frontier” as a Borg drone.
  • Leucon is played by Mark A. Sheppard.  He is the son of W. Morgan Shepherd.  While this is the only appearance of Mark in Star Trek, his father was in two Trek episodes and the sixth movie.  Mark also played the younger version of Canton Delaware in Doctor Who’s “The Impossible Astronaut” & “Day of the Moon“.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 139 - Child's Play - 8 Mar 2000 1/2 An ep about Icheb. Voyager found his home planet, and they're trying to return him to his real family. Icheb's real parents aren't something that Seven approves of so she fights him leaving. He's starting to warm to the idea

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Voyager Ep 139 - Child's Play - 8 Mar 2000 2/2 when it's found out that his parents intend on sacrificing him to the Borg. The Borg themselves briefly appear, they feel like a cameo in this story. Felt like this could have been a two parter. Felt a bit rushed in places.

My prior physical copies of Star Trek: Voyager looked this way.
