Notes

  • Running Decon Gel Scene Appearances: T’Pol (2), Trip (1), Hoshi (1), Malcolm (1). None this episode.
  • This is the only episode of Star Trek directed by Rob Hedden.  He’s also the director of one of the most unintentionally funny horror movies I’ve ever seen – “Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan“. :)
  • A working title for this episode was “Equilibrium”.
  • Tavin is played by Robert Pine.  Pine is the real life father of actor Chris Pine, who played James T. Kirk in the three JJ Abrams Star Trek movies.
  • One of the flashback/fantasy scenes has a prop that originally appeared in the DS9 episode “Let He Who is Without Sin…“.
  • The street scenes were filmed at the traditional Paramount New York Street backlog, which has appeared NUMEROUS times in various incarnations of Trek.
  • The first time in any incarnation of Trek that we see the inside of a Vulcan ship.
  • T’Pol contracts a disease from a forced mind meld in this episode.  This isn’t revealed until the next season episode “Stigma“, and she’s ultimately cured of it in the Season 4 episode “Kir’Shara“.
  • There is a loose connection to Star Trek V: The Final Frontier here relative to the group that Sybok belonged to.
  • Tucker says that he has a brother in this episode, but it’s never brought up again.  He does mention later he has a sister, but the brother isn’t mentioned anymore after this episode.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 17 - Fusion - 20 Feb 2002 2/2 these Vulcans remind me of Sybok - just not wanting to take over the ship. Blalock is given a lot to do in this ep, which is enjoyable. Sets up a plot line for her that continues into S4 about having a mild meld illness.
