Vox Sola

This Story: Season 1 Episode 22 (production code 122)
ENT Overall: Episode 22
Trek Overall: Story 613, Episode 650
Airdate: 1 May 2002
Story by by Rick Berman, Brannon Braga, & Fred Dekker
Teleplay by Fred Dekker
Directed by Roxann Dawson

Notes

  • Running Decon Gel Scene Appearances: T’Pol (2), Trip (2), Hoshi (1), Malcolm (1). No scene this episode.
  • This episode has nothing to do with the Star Trek Picard Season 3 episode “Vox“.  There is also a Starfleet Academy episode titled “Vox in Excelso” (also unrelated). Vox Sola is Latin and translates to “lone voice”.
  • The second of ten episodes directed by Roxann Dawson, Voyager’s B’Elanna Torres.
  • The Kreetassan captain is played by Vaughn Armstrong who has played a crap ton of characters across this era of Trek.  This one is his twelfth overall.
  • The first time (in universe) a Federation ship uses a force field (not called shields like modern ships).
  • It’s also established the T’Pol is Archer’s first officer, something unsaid till now.
  • The first of three appearances by Joseph Will as Crewman Rostov.  The others are “Two Days and Two Nights” and “The Crossing“. He was also Kelis in Voyager’s “Muse” as well as a Quarren security officer in Voyager’s “Workforce, Part II“.
  • Crewman “J Kelly” was played by Renee Goldsberry.  She would voice the character again in the video game “Star Trek: Away Team“.
  • Jonathan Archer thinks water polo is the best sport in the world.
  • I think Gene Roddenberry would have liked this episode.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 22 - Vox Sola - 1 May 2002 1/2 The early part of this ep has some nice scenes showing general life on the ship as the main plot burns in the background. That's that some (bad CGI) alien sneaks on board and starts capturing the crew. Kind of acts like

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 22 - Vox Sola - 1 May 2002 2/2 a spider in that they're caught in what looks like a massive pile of silk. By the time you find out what it wants, most of the ep has passed. Basically a race to save our people. Some good character stuff in this one.
