Countdown

This Story: Season 3 Episode 23 (production code 175)
ENT Overall: Episode 75
Trek Overall: Story 665, Episode 703
Airdate: 19 May 2004
Written by André Bormanis & Chris Black
Directed by Robert Duncan McNeill

Notes

  • This episode won an Emmy award for “Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series”.
  • The fifth and final appearance of Steven Culp as Major Hayes.
  • The visual effect for the subspace vortex has been used a few times before.  It was a Borg transwarp hub effect in Voyager’s “Endgame” as well as a slipstream effect in the Voyager episodes “Hope and Fear” and “Timeless“).
  • The first time T’Pol calls Trip by that name.
  • The Xindi method to take control of Hoshi reminds me somewhat of the way Khan controlled Chekov – although it wasn’t a slug in the ear.  :)

a big time action packed ep - but as the penultimate ep of the season, I'd expect no less. Was good that they gave Hoshi something to do behind sitting in her bridge chair. Got some development with Trip/T'Pol & Hayes/Reed. Excellent episode - good action, nice setup for finale. Loved this ep.
