Notes

• Officially this episode’s title is “The Butcher’s Knife Cares Not for the Lamb’s Cry”.  Due to the length of that, I just shortened it to three words as that long of a title would really throw off various parts of my blog’s layout.
• To that, it’s the second longest title in all of Star Trek History – with the first being from TOS – “For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched The Sky“.
• Apparently the use of Elon Musk in this episode is a name drop by Jason Isaacs in an attempt to get Tesla to give him a car.
• The first episode with Hugh Culber.
• The last appearance for Rekha Sharma as Landry, as the character is killed off in this episode.
• The last appearance of Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou – at least in her prime form.  Yeoh would make many other appearances as Georgiou – but those are all a mirror universe variant.
• This episode takes place one day after the prior one.
• The first time that Saru’s defense mechanism gets a name – “threat ganglia”.
• A Horta can briefly be seen in one scene in Lorca’s quarters.
• The first time I can think of where it’s stated that Klingons actually eat their defeated foe.  There’s dialogue that L’rell & Voq ate the corpse of Georgiou.  We’ve had references to them eating the heart of an enemy many times before, but not to this extent.
• The planet Corvan II was previously mentioned in the TNG episode “New Ground“.
• The first of twelve appearances by Jayne Brook as Admiral Cornwell.
• The first time we see Discovery’s (black alert) spore drive in action for a jump.
• Some of the sound effects in sickbay sounded a lot like similar effects in the original series.
