Light and Shadows

This Story: Season 2 Episode 7 (production code 207)
DSC Overall: Episode 22
Trek Overall: Story 705, Episode 748
Airdate: 28 Feb 2019
Story by Ted Sullivan & Vaun Wilmott
Teleplay by Ted Sullivan
Directed by Marta Cunningham

Notes

  • The first episode with Ethan Peck – as Spock – on screen.  He had prior to this done two voice overs as the character, but this is the first time he appeared in the flesh.  This is supposed to be Leonard Nimoy’s version of Spock, just at a younger age (as opposed to Zachary Quinto’s Spock, which is an alternate reality).
  • This episode said that Spock’s shuttle disappeared in the Mutara sector.  The same place that Spocked died in Wrath of Khan.
  • This episode bends the canon that Spock & Sarek didn’t speak to each other for a very long time – but doesn’t break it.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Discovery Episode 22 - Light and ShadowsThe Search for Spock concludes - as he's found. He's obviously not guilty of the murder of the people he was accused of. However, it wasn't easy proving that as his mind is gone nuts for a reason you don't know in the narrative

yet. Neither do we know what the Red Angel is at this point. The Discovery deals with some funky time dilation stuff and a dive into relationship between Pike and Ash Tyler. Really nice seeing Spock again, despite him being mentally gone. One of my fav overall Trek characters. Good stuff here.
