Lynn’s clothing adventure
You know, since Samantha was born, I’ve had a chance to observe Lynn’s maternal behaviour.
She’s been sleeping in the baby’s room – partially out of the fact that we don’t want to disturb her C section incision, and partially so she can be closer to the baby. Lynn sits in a rocking chair and rocks the baby. She sings to Samantha (last night she sang the ABC’s song, and repeated her name a lot). Lynn responds quickly when Samantha cries. Basically, Lynn’s been a great mother.
However, as with all things, there’s a few blips and oddities that sneak out. Today was a doozie. We went to her OB to have her incision checked on, and just a general two week post delivery checkup. Everything there was fine. However, when we walked into the office, and sat in the exam room, the nurse turned around and started laughing. Lynn was wondering what the laughing was about, and the nurse said “Honey, your pants are on wrong – they’re inside out and backwards!” Yup. Lynn had gone out of the house with her pants on insideout and backwards. Now they were sweatpants, so it wasn’t so bad, but I had actually noticed her pants being backwards twice. Once when I was still in the shower, and a second time when we got in the truck to go to the doctor’s office. Both time she looked at them and said “they’re fine”. I even told her “hey, the white stripe is on the inside!” She didn’t get it.
Lynn was so out of it that she almost walked out of the house this morning with her robe still on, with her street clothes underneath! So it was to my great delight that the nurse at the doctor’s office noticed this and started laughing. She said she had never seen a new mother do this before in all her time there, so Lynn will probably be a legend there for this!
We left the doctor’s office, and while we were walking out, I grabbed the nurse’s attention again, and just pointed to Lynn’s pants, which set off a fresh round of laughing on the nurse’s part – we definitely made her day, probably the whole week. To make things more interesting, I get told after the fact that Lynn tried to put Samantha’s diapers on backwards twice last night, and that all during her pregnancy, she kept putting her clothes on backwards, too!
So beware – having a baby can make you put your pants on inside out and backwards and not notice it at all despite your husband’s attempts to alert you to the fact!

Oh my gosh! Well, I’m not sure Lynn thought this very funny today but maybe she will sometime in the near future.
Did you know that Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is the tune of the ABC song? Just FYI in case she gets bored of ABC’s…
:)
Cute story so be sure and write it down in Samnatha’s baby book!
Are you kidding me, THIS is the baby book.. :)
