Emergence

This Story: Season 7 Episode 23 (production code 275)
TNG Overall: Episode 175
Trek Overall: Story 267, Episode 277
Airdate: 9 May 1994
Story by Brannon Braga
Teleplay by Joe Menosky (and Naren Shankar – uncredited)
Directed by Cliff Bole

Notes

  • Brannon Braga did not write this episode (just getting an “idea” credit) as he was busy writing the series finale.
  • The train set also appeared in the movie “Bram Stroker’s Dracula“.  There was also stock footage used from the film “Murder on the Orient Express“.
  • The life form special effect was created by Amblin Entertainment – Steven Spielberg’s company.
  • ADMIN NOTE: The BlueSky posts for this say they’re episode 174, that was a mistake, they’re 175.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 174 - Emergence - 9 May 1994 1/2 This ep doesn't feel like a series ending on a high - this is fairly meh, and w/ only two left after this, its placement is odd to me. Having said that, the story wasn't bad, just felt like it was misplaced as we get to the end.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 174 - Emergence - 9 May 1994 2/2 It's a holodeck malfunction story but one that manifests itself as the Enterprise computer becoming self aware (hence the title). It's a bit of an odd one. The being ends up leaving the ship, and we get a speech about "new life".
