Preemptive Strike

This Story: Season 7 Episode 24 (production code 276)
TNG Overall: Episode 176
Trek Overall: Story 268, Episode 278
Airdate: 16 May 1994
Story by Naren Shankar
Teleplay by René Echevarria
Directed by Patrick Stewart

Notes

  • The final appearance of Michelle Forbes as Ro Laren on the series. She declined an invitation to be one of the primary cast of Deep Space Nine.  The character does appear significantly later in the Season 3 episode Star Trek Picard “Imposters” (2023).
  • Ro mentions an instructor at the academy who joined the Maquis.  This was Chakotay – although he’s not mentioned by name.
  • The last appearance of Natalia Nogulich as Admiral Nechayev on TNG.  The character would appear in two episode of Deep Space Nine.
  • Deep Space Nine gets a shout out in this episode.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 176 - Preemptive Strike - 16 May 1994 1/2 The penultimate ep of the show brings back Ro Laren one last time. IRL after the actress turned down a lead role on DS9 (hello Kira), so her character has a way different ending. She betrays Picard; its paid off decades

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 176 - Preemptive Strike - 16 May 1994 2/2 later in Star Trek: Picard. A very good Ro heavy ep. While it doesn't set up the TNG finale, it does do more setup for Voyager. Very good emotional stuff here, but I get the impression GR would not have liked this story.
