The Sword of Kahless

This Story: Season 4 Episode 9 (production code 481)
DS9 Overall: Episode 81
Trek Overall: Story 342, Episode 362
Airdate: 20 Nov 1995
Story: Richard Danus
Teleplay: Hans Beimler
Director: LeVar Burton

Notes

  • This episode was directed by LeVar Burton (Geordi).  It was his second DS9 episode.  Legend has it that he dubbed Terry Farrell “Action Barbie” during the making of this episode.
  • The first episode written after Michael Dorn joined the cast, and as such is the first feature him heavily (beyond the first one).
  • The razor that Sisko uses to shave his head is the exact same prop that Geordi used to save with in the TNG episode “Code of Honor“.  This is especially amusing when you factor in that LeVar Burton directed this episode.
  • Kor says the line “will be glorious” here which is delivered nearly identically to the way Kor said the same thing to Kirk in “Errand of Mercy“. That episode is also referenced by Worf in dialogue in this episode.
  • The son of Worf’s nemesis makes an appearance here – Toral, son of Duras.  He last appeared in the TNG episode “Redemption Part II“, but was played by a different actor then.

We also meet an older version of Toral, the son of Duras from TNG, but he wasn't a huge part of the plot. Didn't agree with the end resolution. My least fav of the 3 Kor eps.
