Notes
- This plot of the Dominion kidnapping Quark’s mother was supposed to be the Grand Nagus, but Wallace Shawn was unavailable, so it was switched to his mother Ishka.
- Features a reappearance of the DS9 sister station, Empok Nor.
- Similar to the Empok Nor episode, the bulk of the main cast is only seen in the teaser. And Worf isn’t even in the episode.
- Features quite a lot of the one off and semi recurring Ferengi characters: Quark, Rom, Nog, Brunt, Iska, Gaila, Leck.
- Features the rock star Iggy Pop as a Vorta (Yelgrun).
- Keevan appears again for the second and final time. He had previously appeared in “Rocks and Shoals“. Both times they were played by Christopher Shea.
- The only episode where Rom kills someone (A Jem’Hadar).
- While officially the writers of this episode say it doesnt’ have anything to do with them, it does have a lot of feel of the movies The Seven Samurai or The Magnificent Seven.
- Parts of this feel like the episode “Spock’s Brain” as well as Weekend at Bernie’s.
- This episode was directed by Chip Chalmers. He directed one other DS9 episode as well as four on TNG, and being a first assistant director on 12 other episodes of TNG.

Quark puts together a group of Ferengi to rescue her. Basically it's the Ferengi do The Magnificent Seven. It takes place on the Empok Nor station.

#StarTrekMarathon Deep Space Nine Ep 134 - The Magnificent Ferengi - 29 Dec 1997 2/2 Overall not that bad of an "all Ferengi ep", but it's more than just comedy. There's some heart in here. Watching the different Ferengi deal with each other is the main fun. Quark taking charge was a cool angle.
