Notes

• Running Decon Gel Scene Appearances: T’Pol (3), Trip (2), Hoshi (2), Malcolm (1), Archer (1), Porthos (1).  None this episode.
• The fourth of nine episodes directed by TNG’s LeVar Burton.
• This episode aired at the same time as the series finale of Dawson’s Creek, which affected the ratings – this was (at the time) the second lowest rated episode.
• Phlox, Reed, & Mayweather do not appear in this episode. Hoshi’s appearance is so small, she also might have well not been in it either.
• Three of the background characters in this episode were played by actual sailors for the real life USS Enterprise (CVN-65). They were James Frey, Kathy Grant, & Thomas Hunt.
• It is established that the “Trip” in Charles Tucker’s name stands for “triple”.  The explanation was that his name was “Charles Tucker III” – so 3 = triple.
• The Capt Jeffries who was part of the NX program was intentionally named after the real life art director from the original series Matt Jeffries.
