- The last episode of Season 2.
- The last episode for the show to bear the series name of “Enterprise”. After this, it would be “Star Trek: Enterprise”.
- This episode bridges the gap of what’s come before and what happens in Season 3. It follows on from events of “Bounty”, and sets up the entire Xindi arc for Season 3.
- There was a novelization of this episode titled “The Expanse”. It also included parts of the next episode as well – “The Xindi”. It is still available on Amazon.com.
- T’Pol resigns her commission with the Vulcan Science Academy so she can remain on Enterprise after they recall her.
- We see the second ship in the NX class here for the first time – NX-02 Columbia.
- An item in the Xindi ship wreckage was used in DS9 as Quark’s “cloaking device” in the episode ‘Profit and Loss“.
- The first in universe use of photon torpedos in Star Trek.
- The final appearance of “Future Guy” in the series.
- Daniel Riordan’s Duras is killed here.
- The last time we see Vaughn Armstrong’s Admiral Forrest until the last episode in the Xindi Arc (04×03 – “Home“).
- The Vulcan Fer’at was played by Bruce Wright. He was also Sarish Rez in the DS9 episode “Crossfire“.
- An unnamed Klingon council member was played by Gary Bullock. He was also Goth in the Voyager episode “Rise“.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 52 - The Expanse - 21 May 2003 3/3it does deal with the "Archer is a Klingon fugitive" plot, and Duras' pursuit of him. It oddly is dropped after this as far as I can tell. Overall an excellent finale, which sets up the full season 3 Xindi arc well.
