Notes
- Sulu here mentions that his (6x) great grandfather grew up in an internment camp in World War II – this is an obvious reference to George Takei who really did do that.
- In the episode, there was a shot on the wall of all the Constitution class starships either in service or destroyed. I adored that sign. The Star Trek Continues folks were kind enough to send over a photo from the set showing that sign clearly, as it was not shown in full in the episode (was either out of shot, or someone was standing in front of it). You can see this photo below. It is courtesy of Star Trek Continues.
- In the opening shot of when the shuttlecraft lands on the planet, we see the United Federation of Planets flag painted on the ground. This is only the second time it was seen in full. The only other time was in the Season 3 TOS episode “And the Children Shall Lead“.

This ep sets up a plot point which is resolved over a few eps about the loss of the crew of the USS Hood. Starfleet wants to make Spock the new capt of the Hood. Most of the drama in this ep pic.twitter.com/kXWjnNpB7R

comes from a story about gender bias over who is qualified to be captain of a starship. It's a very talky ep, but good stuff. Love the attention to detail in the trial scenes - great episode. pic.twitter.com/CCT3sBFT64
