Return to Tomorrow

This Story: Season 2 Episode 20 (production code 2.22)
TOS Overall: Story 49, Episode 50
Trek Overall: Story 49, Episode 50
Airdate: 9 Feb 1968
Written by John T. Dugan (as John Kingsbridge)
Directed by Ralph Senesky

Notes

  • Diana Muldauhr guest stars here as Dr. Ann Mulhall.  She also appears in Season 3’s “Is There in Truth No Beauty?” (as a different character).  She was also Dr Pulaski in the second season of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
  • John T. Dugan wrote this episode, but used the pseudonym John Kingsbridge as he objected to Gene Roddenberry’s rewrites on moral grounds.
  • This episode is the latest in any season to feature a new score, albeit a partial one, by George Duning.  From the next episode onward, all music is re-used from somewhere.

The one with Dr Pulaski from TNG in a 60's Trek role. It's also the one where her and Kirk/Spock get their minds transferred to globes for the bulk of the episodes. It wasn't by any means a bad episode, but pic.twitter.com/nSsz6cAbMK

seems to exist only so our main cast can give performances of different characters. The big drama comes here when one of the aliens doesn't want to return to where they were and return Spock's body. Eh. pic.twitter.com/eZhwbH470m

The other, unnamed nurse in McCoy’s sickbay.

Amusing tweet about this episode. Original is here.
