Trek Overall: Story 165, Episode 167
Airdate: 19 Mar 1990

Notes

  • The first of four episodes with Tony Todd as Worf’s brother Kurn.  Three of them were on Star Trek: TNG, and the fourth was on Deep Space Nine.
  • The first time we ever saw the Klingon home world – Qo’noS.
  • The first time we ever saw the Captain’s dining room.
  • The first episode where we find out that Dr. Crusher’s middle name starts with a “C” – but we don’t find out what the C stands for.
  • The design of the Klingon Great Hall won an Emmy award for Best Art Direction (for designer Richard James).
  • Charles Cooper plays K’mpec here.  He also played a Klingon in Star Trek V – The Final Frontier (General Korrd).  He wears the same cloak in his outfit here that he did there.
  • The only episode where we hear the name of Duras’ father – Ja’rod.
  • The events of the Season 2 episode “A Matter of Honor” are referenced here.  Worf’s brother (who is not initially known as such) is the flip side of that – having a Klingon serve on the Enterprise.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek TNG Ep 65 - Sins of the Father - 19 Mar 1990 2/2 them. To save face for the empire, Worf becomes an outcast, and sets up a chain of stories that will play out over several other TNG and DS9 episodes. The first of the "big Klingon" episodes. Tony Todd is awesome as Kurn.
