Notes
- On screen, this episode is simply titled “The Best of Both Worlds”, not “The Best of Both Worlds, Part I”. Part II however does have that distinction.
- George Murdock played Admiral Hanson in this episode, but was also “God” in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. He was also Dr. Salik in the original Battlestar Galactica.
- Locutus is Latin for “he who has spoken”.
- The first time the Borg’s famous “resistance is futile” line is used.
- This episode is a sequel to “Q Who“.
- Only the second two parter in the show’s history to this point – the other was “The Menagerie“.
- The first ever end of season cliffhanger in Star Trek franchise history.
- There are hints later on in Deep Space Nine that the Defiant was part of the advance planning referred to in this episode in regard to weapon development.
