- Features an on screen dedication to Gene Roddenberry who had died 18 days prior to the broadcast of this episode.
- The dialogue between Picard & Spock about Klingon peace treaties was intended to be a tie in to “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country” which was released a couple of months after this episode.
- The first mention of Klingon Opera and Worf’s like of it. This is expanded on when Worf joins Deep Space Nine as a regular character.
- The dress worn by one of Omag’s female companions was later re-used for Troi in the episode “Man of the People“.
- The official title of the episode is “Unification II”, as opposed to “Unification Part II”.
- Part II of this story was (mostly) filmed before Part I due to time constraints and the availability of Leonard Nimoy.
- In 2020, Star Trek Discovery aired a third part to this, “Unification III“. That episode showed what happened many MANY years down the line about what happened when Spock’s efforts were ultimately successful.
