Notes
- There was a prequel to this episode which showed the Doctor receiving a communication to “help” someone, who gave him coordinates to Skaro as where he needed to go to help. Was one of the better prequels, IMO.
- From this point through to the end of Matt Smith’s run, every episode had a “movie poster” produced for it. I seem to recall a story from Moffat saying that this series episodes were more “movie like”, so he wanted posters to go with them. I will be using them as the featured image for each story.
- In addition, the logo in the titles for each episode this series has a style to match something going on in the individual story.
- This is the first on screen appearance of Jenna Coleman, who at the time was announced as the new companion but was not scheduled to appear for another five episodes after this. The character she plays here is an alternate version of her regular Clara character – that’s explained canonically much later.

One of my fav Dalek stories. We first get the shock appearance of Jenna Coleman, not as Clara, but as Oswin - her appearance was kept a secret until airing. #SouffleGirl Amy & pic.twitter.com/uAlFjGoL8Q

Rory have to reconcile, as they had split. The best part is the Dalek history here with many Daleks from classic Who, even if just in background. Karen Gillan is peak HOT here. pic.twitter.com/wyQVOE8tCl
