Operation — Annihilate!

This Story: Season 1 Episode 29 (production code 1.29)
TOS Overall: Story 29, Episode 30
Trek Overall: Story 29, Episode 30
Airdate: 13 Apr 1967
Written by Steven W. Carabastos
Directed by Herschel Daugherty

Notes

  • The last episode of Season 1.
  • Kirk’s brother Sam is played here (as a corpse) by William Shatner with a mustache.
  • Child actor Craig Hundley played Peter Kirk.  He later returned in the much maligned episode “And the Children Shall Lead“, playing Tommy Starnes.
  • Apparently the “creatures” were created by a special effects guy out of bags of fake vomit.

Season 1 ends with this ep I remember more from the bloopers than the plot. Shatner plays another role (as a corpse) - Kirk's brother Sam as well. Our crew has to find a way to wipe out parasites that pic.twitter.com/YqOK6ryLd0

have taken over colonists - including Kirk's family. It's not bad at all, just kind of "there". We do learn a few things about Vulcan physiology here. Kirk's nephew survives, but is never seen again. pic.twitter.com/BsEoFYKQJC
