Lessons in Talking

This Story: Series 3 Episode 3
Airdate: 9 Dec 1996
Written by Paul Makin
Directed by Demi Humphreys

Notes

  • When this originally aired, there was no title card, I didn’t find out the actual episode title (properly) until I got the DVD many years later.
  • The incompetence of Renee from the last episode is immediately glossed over.  She’s fully integrated after a single episode.
  • We find out Janice’s maiden name in this episode – Miller.

Cyril decides to make Gareth's reputation better, he should "mingle" with the customers in the restaurant. Past episodes show us this will not go well, and it doesn't. Janice turns up to talk about the divorce, which pic.twitter.com/z9IEy58u3T

compounds Gareth's stress about small talk. It's a surprisingly simple concept, but it's super funny. There's also a bit where Janice & Gareth sleep together which complicates the divorce stuff. Funny ass episode, IMO. pic.twitter.com/ivj8OLy2M5
