Notes
- This entire episode is an homage to “The Maltese Falcon“.
- The only episode of Star Trek: TNG won an Emmy award. It was for “Outstanding Costumes for a Series”, and it was the only Star Trek episode ever to win a Peabody award.
- There was a break between the last episode in late November and this one on 11 Jan, presumably for the Christmas season.
- The only episode that shows Tasha Yar in command on the bridge.
- In the original production order, this episode was to come after “11001001“. If that had happened, the events of that episode would have explained the holodeck malfunctions in this episode.

The first of the big holodeck episodes, and the first where the thing malfunctions. This one is a big homage to The Maltese Falcon, with Picard playing his "Dixon Hill" character here first. The premise is pic.twitter.com/aZth9gOQEf

Picard is overworked, goes the holodeck, gets stuck. It's a fun romp - film noir style. The non holodeck part of this isn't terribly interesting, IMO. We got strong hints on a Picard/Crusher attraction. pic.twitter.com/f06nULa0KG
