In the Hands of the Prophets

This Story: Season 1 Episode 20 (production code 420)
DS9 Overall: Episode 20
Trek Overall: Story 288, Episode 300
Airdate: 21 Jun 1993
Written by Robert Hewitt Wolfe
Directed by David Livingston

Notes

  • The last episode of Season 1, and the only season with as few as 20 episodes.
  • The only Deep Space Nine season finale not to be written by Ira Steven Behr.
  • The first episodes for both Louise Fletcher as Vedek (later Kai) Winn and Philip Anglim as Vedek Bareil.
  • The scenes filmed at the monastery were filmed in the same place the holodeck scenes were filmed at for the TNG pilot.
  • The sound effect for a station alert was later re-used as the red alert for the USS Voyager on that series.
  • Winn claims to have spoken to the prophets, but this contradicts the events of the episodes “The Reckoning” and “Til Death Do Us Part“.
  • One of the sequences when O’Brien is trying to decode the ANA routine is “GENE ROD” and another is “NCC1 701” – both references to original Star Trek.
  • A Rule of Acquisition is mentioned – #7 – “Keep Your Ears Open”.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 20 - In the Hands of the Prophets - 21 Jun 1993 2/2 that's quite prevalent today. It also reexamines the relationship between Bajor / Federation, plus the relationship between Sisko / Kira. A good side story with O'Brien & temptation too. A banger!
