Notes
- The first episode of Season 2, and also the first episode in the first three part story in franchise history – there was never a three parter before this. The next time there was a three parter was 11 years later during Season 4 of Star Trek: Enterprise.
- The first episode that was specifically constructed for the universe of Deep Space Nine – in other words a story that couldn’t also be done on Next Generation.
- Notable actor Frank Langella appears in this episode and the other two in this three parter. His appearance is uncredited at his own request. This is apparently as he wanted to do the episode as something for his children, and didn’t want the exposure for having done so.
- The first episode with no appearance of any kind of Morn.
- A Rule of Acquisition was mentioned: #76 – “Every once in a while, declare peace. It confuses the hell out of your enemies”.
