Indiscretion

This Story: Season 4 Episode 4 (production code 477)
DS9 Overall: Episode 77
Trek Overall: Story 338, Episode 358
Airdate: 23 Oct 1995
Story: Nicholas Corea
Teleplay: Toni Marberry & Jack Trevino
Director: LeVar Burton

Notes

  • This episode was directed by TNG’s LeVar Burton – his first DS9 episode. He would direct a total of 10 DS9 episodes total, the most of any of the four Trek series he’s directed for.  (2 TNG, 8 VOY, 9 ENT)
  • Dukat received a promotion between his last appearance and now – his outfit changed to be in line.
  • The exterior scenes were filmed in a quarry north of Los Angeles. The same location was used for three other DS9 episodes (“The Homecoming“, “The Ship“, & “Rocks and Shoals“).
  • The first appearance (although not the first mention) of the Breen race – one that will become a major deal in the latter part  of the run of DS9.
  • The first appearance of the character Tora Ziyal.  She is played here by Cyia Batten who would play her one more time before ceding the role to two other actresses later on.
  • The name of another Kai is mentioned here – “Meressa”.
  • Roy Brocksmith plays Razka Karn here.  He also played Sirna Kolarmi in the Season 2 TNG episode “Peak Performance“.
