Let He Who Is Without Sin…

This Story: Season 5 Episode 7 (production code 505)
DS9 Overall: Episode 105
Trek Overall: Story 365, Episode 386
Airdate: 11 Nov 1996
Writer: Ira Steven Behr & Robert Hewitt Wolfe
Director: René Auberjonois

Notes

  • The title is another in a long series of Star Trek episode titles based on bible verses.  This time it’s John 8:7, which says ““Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”.
  • According to the DS9 Companion book, it said that Terry Farrell could not be in the sun for any length of time, although it did not elaborate as to why. Probably why most of her shots aren’t in bright sunlight or at least not for long.
  • Robert Hewitt Wolfe has said it’s his least favorite episode of Trek he’s written.
  • Kira, Jake, & Miles do not appear, but Kira isn’t here because Nana Visitor had given birth a day or so before filming this.
  • The only time we visit Risa in Deep Space Nine.  It was visited a total of 6 times across four series (TNG – 2, DS9 – 1, ENT – 2, DSC – 1).  The version in Discovery was in the mirror universe.
  • It is said how Curzon died here – although there are two other stories that offer different explanations of that.
  • Dax’s swimsuit appears to have a Speedo logo on it, which is probably a real world production issue.
  • The events of this episode are never mentioned again – probably due to most everyone who made it having a negative opinion of the final product.
  • The original version of Leeta getting a massage had Chase Masterson film the scene topless.  It was determined to be “too sexy”, and was refilmed with a shirt on.  That original version did make it out into a trailer for the episode, however.  There is a screenshot of that below.
  • The first episode where Leeta expresses feelings for Rom, who she eventually marries further down the line of the series.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 105 - Let He Who Is Without Sin - 11 Nov 1996 1/2 DS9 visits Risa for the only time. This ep was designed to be a commentary on sex and relationships, but it mostly falls down on these. Worf has a major stick up his ass in this one, and does some stuff

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Deep Space Nine Ep 105 - Let He Who Is Without Sin - 11 Nov 1996 2/2 that should get him courtmartialed, but it's never spoken of again. There's a lot of nice visuals here, and some funny lines. Guest stars Vanessa Williams. Nice bit of fluff, but not the best episode.
