- The first of three episodes of DS9 directed by Michael Dorn. He would also direct one episode of Enterprise.
- Dax does not appear in this episode.
- At an auction Morn buys a painting. Said painting is seen again in “Who Mourns for Morn?“.
- Elias Giger is played by Brian Markinson. He’s had a few other roles in Trek. He was Vorin in TNG’s “Homeward“. He was Lt. Durst in two Voyager episodes (“Cathexis” & “Faces“). He was also “Sulan” in the Faces episode as well.
- The plot of this ep is similar to one that Jake & Nog went through in the first season episode “Progress“.
- A non agression pact between Bajor & the Dominion mentioned here happens in the next episode.
- The actual baseball card in this episode is a 1951 Bowman Willie Mays card.
