Notes

  • Running Decon Gel Scene Appearances: Trip (1), T’Pol (1) – none this episode.
  • From what I’ve read about this ep, it had a different ending with Phlox disobeying Archer.  It supposedly was changed at the request of UPN (the network), which apparently irritated John Billingsley (Phlox).
  • The basic structure of this episode is similar to TNG’s “Data’s Day” and DS9’s “In The Pale Moonlight” in that it has a character narrate it.
  • The unnamed alien astronaut was played by Christopher Rydell.  He is the real life son of actress Joanne Linville, who played the Romulan Commander in the TOS episode “The Enterprise Incident“.  He is also the real life brother of Amy Rydell who reprised the Romulan Commander character in the Star Trek Continues episode “To Boldly Go“.
  • The character referred to as “Male Menk” was played by Alex Nevil.  He was also a shuttle operator in the 2009 film “Star Trek“.
  • The character of Doctor Jeremy Lewis is heard here, but not seen.  The character would appear in the flesh in a couple of Season 4 episodes – “Cold Station 12” and “The Augments“.
  • The Ferengi are mentioned here, but not seen.  T’Pol says they have not encountered them.
  • Larr is played by Karl Wiedergott.  He was also Ameron in Voyager’s “Warlord“.
  • Another step is taken to Starfleet’s Prime Directive, called “General Order 1” here.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 13 - Dear Doctor - 23 Jan 2002 1/2 A Phlox heavy ep. The first part is a narrative structure about his life on ship via letters to another Doctor. The rest is the good ol "medical ethics ep". That's not bad - in fact, the ep is quite enjoyable. Phlox

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 13 - Dear Doctor - 23 Jan 2002 2/2 finds a medical solution to a problem a race they encountered was having. The application of solution would be a major societal problem. Enter conflict (hello Prime Directive) between Phlox & Archer about what to do.
