Minefield

This Story: Season 2 Episode 3 (production code 129)
ENT Overall: Episode 29
Trek Overall: Story 619, Episode 657
Airdate: 2 Oct 2002
Written by John Shiban
Directed by James A. Contner

Notes

  • Running Decon Gel Scene Appearances: T’Pol (2), Trip (2), Hoshi (1), Malcolm (1). No scene this episode.
  • The original plan for this episode was to have the aliens be unknown.
  • The first ever chronological appearance of a Romulan ship in Star Trek.  Like the Ferengi last season and the Borg later this year – it stretches canon, but doesn’t break it.
  • The first episode to feature a change in crew uniforms, although not worn by everyone yet – they’re phased in as the season progresses from here.
  • It is said in this episode the crew complement is 83.

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 29 - Minefield - 2 Oct 2002 1/2This ep deals with Reed's background, whom we don't really know a ton about, so that was good. It also has the Enterprise deal with a Romulan minefield. The Romulans make their first canonical appearance in the timeline

#StarTrekMarathon #StarTrek Enterprise Episode 29 - Minefield - 2 Oct 2002 2/2here. They are not SEEN though - which preserves existing TOS canon. A lot of it is spent trying to extricate Reed from being stuck to a mine on the outside of the ship. There's some good tension here - fairly talky ep.
