Notes

• As originally broadcast, this episode was the first to bear the new show name of “Star Trek: Enterprise”. However, all home media releases bear the new name on Episodes 1 & 2 of this season as well.
• The fifth of nine episodes of Enterprise directed by TNG’s LeVar Burton.
• The base plot of this ep has been seen in many incarnations of Star Trek, going back to the original animated series episode “The Ambergris Element“.  They’re usually not the greatest eps (see Voyager’s “Threshold“), and this one isn’t much different.
• The dedication in this episode (to Jerry Fleck) was because he was the show’s first assistant director who had died.  This episode was the final one he worked on.
• The decon chamber set is used in this episode, but it’s treated more like a holding cell – no actual decon chamber scene happened as they did in the first two seasons of the show.
